Description:
The Army-Navy "E" Award was an American honor presented to companies during the Second World War whose production facilities achieved "Excellence in Production". Only five percent of all U.S. companies received the award.
The Rustless Iron and Steel Corporation was originally the International Rustless Iron Co. The company had patents for methods that made producing stainless steel easier, but was hit badly by the Wall Street Crash of 1929.
Charles Shipman Payson and Clarence Ewing Tuttle purchased the company and changed the name to the Rustless Iron and Steel Corporation. The company had an extensive customer list that included automakers Ford and Chrysler.
